Akron Coating Adhesives is committed to providing technical expertise and high quality production services for small-scale adhesives and coatings products. Designed to house all the necessary equipment required to take new products from development to finished goods, ACA accurately reflects each stage of the manufacturing process. The company specializes in small-volume, high value-added applications of about a million units per year.

From medicated patches to adhesives used in high-end electronic components, Akron Coating and Adhesives has helped its customers develop and produce some of the most sophisticated formulas on the market today. ACA’s custom formula can be found in a wide spectrum of products where reliability and dependability are essential. Some common applications include automobile parts, consumer electronics, and medical devices.

The company also continues to expand its line of off-the-shelf coatings and adhesives. Their latest product line is designed to bond Santoprene rubber to a variety of metals. Unlike other products on the market today, these heat-activated adhesives do not require surface primer, and thus reduce substantially production costs. Most are water-based, allowing easy clean up, and compliance with EPA regulations.

Akron Coating and Adhesives 20,000 square foot facilities include a state-of-the-art research laboratory as well as an extensive production area. The facility houses a 12-inch coater which can be configured to utilize several different coating methods, including nip-fed reverse roll, wire wound rod, gravure, and knife-over-roll, depending on the production requirements. Second pass coatings can be applied where particularly thick coatings are required, even for pressure-sensitive adhesives. Drying, lamination, slitting and packaging equipment are available for each step of the production process. Package design, mixing, and compounding services are also offered, making ACA one of the most complete micro-production facilities in the country.

ACA has built its reputation by producing products that require rigid documentation and conformance to specifications. The facility is certified and regularly inspected by the FDA for production of over-the counter drugs.
